At CLHS theater we are so lucky to have Jay, Joleen, Janet, Ian (not pictured) and Robin back supporting our kids. Their talents are beyond compare and their passion is clear. We do have two new faces to introduce. Fight Choreographer: Mason Tyer & Director’s Assistant: Becky Sechrist.
With every show it brings new challenges and we try to bring in an expert to improve our program and inform the kids. This year The Addams Family has allowed us to bring in a fight choreographer: Mason Tyer. It should come as no surprise that this year’s musical has some sword play action. With that we welcome Mason to our team, we are so excited to have his expertise to help guide our students and our show! Mason Tyer is a director, violence director, intimacy director, teacher, and theatre producer living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Mason is a Certified Teacher, Theatrical Firearms Safety Instructor, and Secretary for the Society of American Fight Directors. He has taught stage combat for The Guthrie, Children's Theatre Company, North Hennepin Community College, Art in Arms, and Open Gate Movement Arts. Mason is a lead teaching artist for The Guthrie and Children's Theatre Company. As a violence and intimacy director, he has worked with Journey North Opera Company, Fake Fighting Company, Children's Performing Arts, Combat Chess United, Ashland Productions, Expressions Community Theatre, Merrill Community Arts, and numerous high schools and community groups. Mason is also a stunt performer and coordinator for music videos and short films in Minnesota." Welcome Mason! Instagram: @masonthetyrant Filling out our team as assistant Director/Stage Manager: Becky Sechrist. We are so happy to announce the new hands on deck. Becky comes with great expertise to share as well: Becky is returning to her theatrical roots after a too long hiatus. She completed her bachelors degree in theater arts with emphasis in stage management and design (more years ago than she cares to count). Becky worked on numerous University of Minnesota and community theater stages on productions ranging from Anything Goes and The Wizard of Oz to The Madwoman of Chailott and Dracula. In the ensuing years, she completed her masters in education and focused on building her public health career and raising two children. She joins her high school junior in bringing this production to life for the Chisago Lakes area where she has lived for the past twenty-two years. Welcome Becky!

Senior Leaders- a few of our seniors who have stepped up into a leadership position this year are a great group of people! We have already met and brainstormed some great community building ideas, character improve games, fundraising, and community outreach. They have some great ideas to get people more involved and grow as our theater clan. Here is just a little bit about them.
In regards to casting- We are open to gender-blind for many roles. You should audition for the roles you are attracted to, but please select a part that best shows your talents (character & dance) & vocal range. Sometimes we can slightly change the key but it cannot be majorly altered, and we typically prefer to keep it in the original key, especially in numbers including many people. Just because you like a role doesn't mean you are suited for it, and you want to have the strongest audition possible! Ancestors Characters- the support and life (or death) of the musical. They are called out yearly for a Addams Family reunion, but are detained from going back into the crypt to help with the young lovers Wednesday & Lucas. Each Ancestor will be their own distinct character from different areas and locals, proud of their heritage. We will be doing a lot of character and background building throughout rehearsals. The Ancestors are the backup chorus in many scenes and dance numbers. When auditioning: we are looking for strong, individual characters. Try bringing a fun flavor to your song and dance.
We are ready to kick off our fall musical, but before we do here is what you can expect from auditions.
