New things happening this week! A student handbook with lettering and captainship information, new research & 36 days until auditions take place!
This week I have been working on a new CLHS theater student handbook! It's going to be a good read, included in it: auditions, casting, rehearsal expectations, production expectations, lettering in the fall musical (even though it's not technically a MSHSL activity...it's happening, you deserve the recognition), earning fine art points, fees & eligibility, tech crew positions, and new this year Theater leaders (equivalent to sport captains). The handbook is going through it's final phases and will be available this fall online, along with a student Fall Musical contract. Now, let me shed a little bit of light on our ALL NEW Student Leadership positions, two captains will split responsibility for things like, but not limited to: encouraging the cast, being Spotlight student reps, help plan the show reveal and act as the link between students and production staff. The responsibilities split between the captains are: Communicator- they are responsible for posting things sent by a production staff member to a location in a prompt matter where the cast can stay up to date. They will also be a part of posting positive messages on the Twitter using TweetDeck. Organizer- they are responsible for keeping track of forms/permission slips, t-shirt orders, and any meals we take part in. They will be administrators on some of the GoogleDrive documents to help track information. In the future juniors will write letters of interest to be narrowed down and voted on by the cast at the end of the production, as to who will represent our fall musical production. This year since we are almost into our production this year seniors will produce their letter by the first week of rehearsal and will be selected in an expedited process. More will be discussed on how to apply soon. :) In time period pieces I love reading and research about that time era, let me share some fun things I have learned. First of all how fitting that the calendar year of 2017 is the same as 1922. But be careful what you wear come September, in 1922 people rioted for 8 days, whether it was okay or not to wear a STRAW HAT past the "socially acceptable" date of September 15th. There were multiple arrests. New things were popping up all over this year, Walgreens introduced the malted milkshake this year, beginning publishing this year: Reader's Digest and Better Homes & Garden, lastly Gummy Bears were now being made in the shape of bears after Hans Reigel. Who was he? The founder of Haribo company, which was inspired by trained bears, which he saw during a street festivities throughout Europe...see the connection? Ah the simple things in life. Hope you all saw last week's post about auditions. If not check it out, things are a bit different this year. |
