Wow! How was is it already July?? I'm excited to say that we have a production team meeting next week I will have lots to announce after the 20th of July. We have a great team this year, who are as excited as the the buzz I have been seeing on Facebook about this year's musical. We have been researching and watching many versions too. We have a few new members, which my next post will be about...introducing you to some new faces.
I know some of you are itching to be back on stage again, and have been starting to work on audition pieces. Next week I will be posting a ton a specifics on auditions and the rehearsal calendar. With my research I have found some fun facts about the year 1922, when Thoroughly Modern Millie takes place. Here are a few fun ones I want to share: The 1920's in general was known as "fad crazy", due to mass communication through radio networks and news columns enabled new pastimes to catch on as fads quickly, some fads were: included flagpole sitting, goldfish swallowing, dance marathons, and crossword puzzles. 1922 was the year King Tut's tomb was discovered and on August 4th, 1922 all telephone service in the US and Canada was silenced for one minute to mark the funeral of Alexander Graham Bell. This year's show will be able to highlight dancers, specifically, but not limited to, tappers and cloggers. So spread the word! Take a peek below to see some of the inspiration for our set design & costumes. Keep a lookout for next week's post. |
